Photoshop offers many options. To fully explore them, a number of sites are dedicated to providing tutorials. The following are some of the sites that provide excellent guides for new users of Photoshop.

* W3.org (`www.w3.org/Tutorials/Photoshop`): This site focuses primarily on the graphic design and illustration needs of website creators. The tutorial includes general tutorials such as those for creating a logo and then using Photoshop to create a black-and-white thumbnail for a website.
* The Art of GIMP (`www.gimp.org/tutorials/`): This site offers tutorials on using GIMP, an open-source graphic editor, in many different ways.

The following are some examples of the kinds of images that can be created in Photoshop.

Mixed Media

One of the major uses for Photoshop is to create images, which can be used as backgrounds or as graphics for web or print.

* Figure 7-1 is an example of a mixed media image created in Photoshop.
* Figure 7-2 provides an example of a photo being altered to create a picture-in-picture (PiP) graphic.

Video

Photoshop can be used to create animations. To create a simple animation, make a picture of a row of shapes moving. Select all of the shapes, which includes the foreground and background. Press the E key on your keyboard to create an event keyframe.

Note: The event keyframe is where the shapes move at a set time, for example when the timer on your computer hits the minute mark or when the music of the song plays.

The Photoshop Elements installation process is actually really easy. If you’re already a Windows user, you’re all set. If not, the process will either take a few hours or a few days. If you’re new to computers, but you have experience with WINE, you’ll be able to install Photoshop Elements on Windows, Mac and Linux in under 15 minutes.

Get Adobe Photoshop Elements

You can install Photoshop Elements using WINE or using a Live CD/DVD. It is a very safe process but you can’t buy it from the app store. You can grab it from the following links:

The PsOne used to sell at very low prices for good reasons. They’re a bit hard to find on eBay, but you can get a good deal on Amazon.

The download size is big for an EP when you consider that it is basically Photoshop.

Step 1: Getting started with WINE

On the first day of trial, one of plaintiffs’ witnesses attempted to testify that “the sales price of each Class E Tube sold by [plaintiffs] in the market subsequent to March 31, 2001 was $50.” When the court asked whether it should permit that testimony, the plaintiffs’ counsel represented to the district court that the witness would not be offering any evidence regarding the price paid by the plaintiffs and that this testimony was, in any event, not relevant to the issue of damages. The district court permitted the testimony to be given because the court “thought the jury should hear the fact, whether its important or not, that there were price reductions after March 31, 2001.”
On appeal, the plaintiffs argue that the district court erred in permitting this testimony because it was irrelevant to the question of damages. The plaintiffs say that they would have been entitled to recover the difference between the price they paid for the tubes and the price that Tekscan would have paid for the tubes. We disagree. As the plaintiffs’ counsel admitted at trial, the price the plaintiffs paid for the tubes was not relevant to the issue of damages, as the plaintiffs’ damages were the difference between what Tekscan would have paid the plaintiffs and what Tekscan paid other resellers. *468 That price is not in issue here because, as we have noted, the plaintiffs and Tekscan had a dealer agreement that allowed Tekscan to buy tubes directly from the plaintiffs at the price used to calculate plaintiffs’ damages. In the absence of a contract that controls the purchase price of the tubes, the price paid by the plaintiffs for the tubes is not relevant to the calculation of damages.
The plaintiffs’ other proffered evidence likewise fails to raise a genuine issue of material fact about whether they suffered an economic loss because of the price reductions. One witness stated that the plaintiffs’ sales prices after March 31, 2001 were the same or higher than their sales prices before

Q:

Why is the function composition equal to function application only for bijective functions?

If a function is bijective, then it can be written as a composition of functions:
$$ f = f_2 \circ f_1 \quad \text{where} \quad f_1, f_2: X \to Y$$
The problem is, what if the function is not bijective? What happens in that case? For instance, suppose that the function $f(x) = 2x+1$. Then $f \circ f$ is the identity function, since $f_2 \circ f_1(x) = f(x) = 2(2x+1)+1 = 4x+2 = f_2(f_1(x))$. However, $f \circ f$ can not be written as the composition of two functions, since $f \circ f$ is not bijective. (Its inverse function is $f(x) = 1/x$.)

Why is the $f \circ f$ is the identity function only for bijective function? I have trouble seeing it.

A:

The problem is that you can’t freely compose functions without introducing some sort of assumptions. If you write $f_1(x) = x$ and $f_2(x) = 2x+1$, then the function $f(x) = 2x+1$ has $f\circ f(x) = f(f(x)) = 2(2x+1)+1 = 4x+2$ as a composition with $f$. This can’t be expressed as the composition of two functions. Thus, it’s not a valid composition.
Think of the Cartesian product. If you have two functions $f: X \to Y$ and $g: Y \to Z$, then there is a bijection from $X \times Y$ to $Z$. The function $h: X \to Y$ given by $(x, y) \mapsto x$ and $k: Y \to Z$ given by $y \mapsto y$ are both bijections, so the product function $h \circ k$ is a bijection. But the product function is not a function from $X \times Y$ to $Z$. Instead, it’s a function $h
